We’ll recover Oyo from APC — PDP

The Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party stakeholders have ended their
peace meeting in Abuja, with a resolve to close ranks and recapture
the South-West from opposition parties in the 2015 general elections.
Among the issues discussed were working as a family and recovering the
South-West for the PDP in 2015.
Part of the resolutions taken at the meeting was to ensure a victory
for the PDP in future elections in Oyo State and the entire South-West
region.
The stakeholders described the new development as a good omen for the
party in the state.
While commending President Goodluck Jonathan for his transformation
agenda, they urged him to empower more members of the PDP in the zone.
Several observations and recommendations were made and all the
stakeholders resolved to speak with one voice.
Speaking with journalists, the convener of the meeting and former
Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Yekini Adeojo, said the time had come
for all PDP members in the state to forget the past and chart a way
forward.
According to him, PDP members in Oyo State have decided to seek ways
of working as a team.
He called on President Jonathan to show more commitment to the people
of the state and the South-West zone, stressing the need for party
members to eschew bitterness and work together as a united team
towards the 2015 elections.
He said, "We've gone through; we've seen most of the things that have
been happening in Oyo State. There have been a lot of frictions
between the ranks and files of PDP in Oyo State and we thought it
wisely that this time around, we should be able to forge ahead. Let's
settle the differences between us and bring our structures together.
"We are all forging ahead; we are all forgetting our differences. We
want to be united and we want to make sure that we will win Oyo State
back to the PDP in 2015. This meeting portrays a good omen; this is a
new dawn and by the grace of God the new dawn has come.
"We are family, we've been in the party together and we had the party
together. All the APC governors are not doing fine; we want to take it
back from them. That's all and by the grace of God everybody will be
happy."
A former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, emphasised the
need for PDP members in the state to bury their hatchet and form a
formidable team against the opposition party.
