No technical adviser for Super Eagles – Sports Minister

The Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission (NSC),
Bolaji Abdullahi, has debunked the rumour that the country was
planning to hire a technical adviser for the Super Eagles.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Sunday that a
plan for a technical adviser was not in the ministry's programmes.
NAN recalls that in the past few days, rumour had been rife that there
wasa plan by the sports ministry and the Nigeria Football Federation
(NFF) to hire a technical adviser for the Eagles.
The issue had elicited reactions from many Nigerians, who felt that
the current Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, had done well so far, and had
proven his capability to take the team to the World Cup.
Abdullahi, who was in Ilorin for the 6th edition of the National
School Sports Festival which began on Saturday, re-emphasised the need
to revitalise grassroots sports, especially in the schools.
He said that the crop of players in the Golden Eaglets team that
conquered the world recently at the FIFA U-17 World Cup at the United
Arab Emirates (UAE), was a testimony that "we are now getting things
right". (NAN)
