Rilwanu, 16-Year Old Who Died At Gov, Wamakko Ramadan Gift Stampede, Is Buried

The Sokoto State government has denied reports that a stampede led
tothe death of three people on Sunday night as they attempted to
collect Ramadan and Sallah gifts from Governor Aliyu Magatakarda
Wamakkoat his residence.
Wamakko's spokesman, Malam Sani Umar, said the story emanated from
some people who do not want the donation of the governor. He insisted
that the distribution was done with the assistance of security
agencies in the state.
SaharaReporters can however authoritatively report the burial of one
of the victims, Rilwanu Bafashi of Gidan Bahuri, at the Bye-pass
mortuary, Sokoto.
The burial was witnessed by Malam Bafashi, the father of the
deceasedand other relatives as well as sympathizers who condemned the
way the governor risked the lives of many kids by inviting them in
their thousands to his residence for the collection of the Ramadan and
SallahGift.
Young Rilwanu and his friends joined the throng to Governor Wamakko's
residence with the hope of collecting their Sallah gifts.
They joined a long queue upon arrival. When the stampede broke out,
Rilwanu fell to the ground and was trampled upon by the mammoth crowd
