The Ademola Adetokunbo, Victoria Island, Lagos branch of the First
City Monument Bank (FCMB) Saturday went up in flames at about 7pm.
THISDAY checks revealed that concerted efforts by fire fighters
stopped the spread of the fire but the flames had affected the entire
ground floor of the bank.
This is coming barely two weeks after another fire, which took the
intervention of a team of Federal Fire Service from the El Rufai Fire
Service, the Federal Fire Service and the FCT Fire Service toput out,
gutted the Internal Audit Department of FCMB in Area Seven, Garki,
Abuja.
The cause of the Lagos fire was yet to be ascertained even as
investigations have begun to unravel the actual cause of the sparkthat
later led to the inferno.
The Spokesperson, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA),
South-west Zone, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the incident but
said there was no casualty.
He said, "There was a fire outbreak at FCMB office in Victoria Island.
The Federal Fire Officers from the Onikan Station and State Fire
Services were mobilised to the scene of the fire incident. Initially,
the fire operators were faced with the challenge of crossing the
barricade of the bank to go in and battle the flames."
