Alhaji Alade Odunewu, one of Nigeria's most respected journalists and
best-read columnists, is dead. He was 86.
The veteran journalist was a fixture of the Daily Times Group for many
years, and he authored some of the industry's most pungent opinion
columns under his pen name, "Allah-Dey."
Reports from Lagos said he died on Thursday at the private St Nicholas
Hospital. The cause of death is unknown.
When he left active journalism, he also served as chairman of the
Lagos State Public Complaints Commission.
