Police To Spend N125.6m On Dogs In 2014

The Nigeria Police Force is to spend a whopping N125, 629,606 million
on its dogs in 2014.
The amount is contained in the Police budget proposal submitted to the
National Assembly by President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja last week.
The presentation was made on his behalf by his Minister for Finance,
Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
The budget for the dogs is part of the N292,351,812,085 billion
budgeted for the police for the year.
A breakdown of the proposal shows that Construction of Force
Headquarters (FHQ) dog section barrack offices and kernels will cost
N60,081,151m while the Development of Police Veterinary dogs breeding
centre, also at the FHQ, Abuja will cost N29, 544,748m.
The Police also budgeted the sum of N35, 993,707 million for the
procurement of dogs handling equipment and feeding.
The police also expect to spend N277, 968,292 million on the
procurement of arms and ammunition.
