Osun PDP, APC tango over alleged mayhem plan

Both the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the main
oppossition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State
have sharply disagreed over allegation of an attempt to cause mayhem
in the state by a leading governorship aspirant from the opposition
party before next year's governorship election.
The interim state chairman of APC, Mr. Adelowo Adebiyi alleged that
part of the plot of the said politician was to issue uniform similar
to those of the Osun Youths Employment Scheme, OYES, to hoodlums
brought to the state to cause mayhem in some parts of the state,
especially Osogbo, the state capital.
But the PDP chairman, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa challenged the APC chairman
to name the so-called governorship aspirant if he was sure of his
facts.
Alhaji Olaoluwa asked if the people from Osun State who were arrested
in Imo State and who paraded themselves as election observers during
the November 16 governorship election in Anambra State were from PDP.
He added that all the four aspirants of the PDP were people of
integrity who had served Nigeria meritoriously in different
capacities.
"Alhaji Fatai Akinbade was a chairman of our party in the state before
becoming SSG; Hon. Wole Oke was a two-time House of Representatives
member and chairman, House Committee on Defence; Senator Olasunkanmi
was a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and also a fomer
minister and Senator Iyiola Omisore is also a two-term senator and
former deputy governor of this state. So APC should tell the whole
world who among them is capable of causing crisis," he added.
Adebiyi stated that the said politician had concluded arrangements to
cause crisis in the state through his sponsored uniform men whowould
appear like OYES cadets on some streets in major towns in the state.
