Scores Injured In Osun Communal Clash

Ede and Ido-Osun communities of Osun State are embroiled in a clash
over a disputed land boundary.
Youths of Ede were said to have invaded Ido-Osun very early on
Saturday, wielding cutlasses and other dangerous weapons. They were
said to have inflicted varying degrees of injuries on residents of the
community.
Braced for a reprisal, Ido-Osun youths blocked the road leading to
Ede, at the point regarded as boundary.
A clash ensued at the road block with youths armed with dangerous
weapons having a free for all.
Many injuries were recorded with nearby hospitals coming to the rescue
of the injured.
Sources close to the warring youths on both sides say the youths are
set for a showdown later tonight.
Timi of Ede, Oba Adesola Lawal has appealed to the youths of his town
to sheath their swords and embrace peace.
Similarly, Oludo of Ido-Osun Oba Aderemi Adedapo has also appealed to
youths of both communities to allow peace to reign as the communities
are now intertwined, especially through inter-marriage, and it would
be hard to separate one from the other.
The monarchs have also called on the state government to wade into the
matter and foster peace between the communities.
