strange reason, took his emotions to Facebook before committing a
terrible crime. Merrick McKoy was a man out of Colorado with serious
psychiatric and relationship problems. He seemed to feel that the
best form of revenge against the child's mother was to kill himself
and the baby.
The troubled 18-year old broke into his girlfriend's apartment on
November 18. The woman ran away to get help, and in the heat of the
situation, the man took a picture of himself and his daughter on
Facebook right before ending both of their lives with a hand gun.
When police arrived on the scene, the man was still alive, but the
baby was gone. A few days later, he died as well. The coroner has
not issued an official report on the cause of death.
Mia's mother, Kim Phanthavongsa, had filed a restraining order against
the man, stating that he was jealous and abusive. The mother says
that when the woman woke up, she found her child's father standing
above her holding a gun.
"I told u I can't live without u lol u thought I was joking now me n
Mia out this b****," he said, shortly before his daughter's death.
He also wrote this to his friends, asking for forgiveness where none
was deserved. "Don't judge me had no choice," he said.
"He was the type to say, if you're not with me, you can't be with
anybody else," a friend, Smaly Chham, told 9 News.
