Bayelsa Insecurity: Wife And Son Of PDP Chieftain Kidnapped

The high level of insecurity in Bayelsa, President Goodluck Jonathan's
home state, rose again on Friday as daring gunmen seized two adults
and a child.
The kidnapping was the second in two days, following the abduction of
the 78-year old father of the Commissioner of Tourism Development,
Nelson Belief.
The two seized on Friday were the wife of Chief Gbalipre Turner, the
state treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and his son.
The incident took place at the family house in Opume, Ogbia Local
Government Area, and it was subsequently confirmed by the Bayelsa
Police Command.
The development has raised concern over the effectiveness of the
special security outfit codenamed operation 'Doo Akpo' and the multi
billion security surveillance project embarked upon by the Bayelsa
government.
It is to be noted that President Jonathan hails from Ogbia, where a
sister of one of his aides, Oronto Douglas, faced a similar fate last
month.
Friday's kidnappers have yet to make contact with the family, a source said.
The PDP chieftain is the younger brother of King Amalate Turner, the
Obanema of Opume Kingdom.
