Policeman shoots colleague dead in Jos

A mobile policeman attached to the Special Task Force in Jos shot and
killed his colleague on Saturday. Two other people were also said to
have been injured in the shooting, which occurred in the early hours
of Saturday in Jol, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The injured people, who had not been identified as at the time of this
report, were said to be on danger list at Vom Christian Hospital, near
Jos.
The Executive Director of Stefanos Foundation, Mr. Mark Lipdo, told
our correspondent that they had yet to understand the motive of the
shooting.
Plateau State Police Commissioner, Mr. Chris Olakpe, told our
correspondent that investigations were on to ascertain the cause of
the incident.
He said, "I am right now addressing the men to calm them down so that
the incident will not dampen their spirit. We will not like anything
that will affect their morale, especially at this time we are
preparing for a crucial task of the local government elections in the
state. The incident is highly regrettable and we want to ensure that
it does not happen again."
