The management of the Young Shall Grow Transport company has saidit
wanted the case of assassination attempt on the company's
Chairman,Chief Vincent Obianodo to be transferred from the FESTAC Area
Command to the State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) for further
investigation.
Daily Sun gathered that the demand might not be unconnected to the
levity with which the case was being handled by the police in FESTAC.
A senior management staff of the company, who identified himself as
Anayo stated that they had it on good authority that preliminary
investigations by the police revealed that one of the assailants who
was gunned down by the police details attached to Chief Obianodo was a
popular auto dealer at Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos State.
The deceased suspect, according to Anayo, was frequently seen in
police circles in the area, saying his involvement could account for
why the police in FESTAC was reluctant to carry out detailed
investigation.
"We are not too comfortable with this angle. Though it could as well
be a rumour, but we don't want to take chances as those who escaped
mightstage another attack," he added.
A police source at FESTAC told Daily Sun that another angle to the
assassination attempt may not be unconnected to a recent clash between
two popular nightclub owners in the area and another during which he
was forced to prevail on the police to allow all parties in the crisis
to operate their businesses.
"The transport magnate was said to have intervened on behalf of the
young club owner making it impossible for him to be intimidated or ran
out of his business by others. This, may not have gone down well with
some people, hence the attempt on his life," the source added.
Three persons, including a police detail, lost their lives in an
attempt to assassinate Chief Obianodo last Tuesday.
