A Zuba Grade 1 Area Court on Friday sentenced a housewife, Husseina
Danhadejia, of Yimi village, Abuja to three months imprisonment for
stealing and selling her husband's property.
The presiding judge, Malam Alhassan Kusherki, handed down the sentence
after Danhadejia had pleaded guilty to the one count charge of theft.
Kusherki, however, gave the convict an option to pay N15,000 fine.
Danhadejia was charged with stealing a mattress, a bag of rice, two
DVD players and a bed sheet.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Momoh Ibrahim, had told the court that one
Abubakar of Yimi village Zuba, Abuja reported the matter at the Zuba
Market Police Outpost on April 4.
"The complainant returned from work and discovered that his wife had
stolen his property.
"They included a bag of rice valued N12,000, one mattress worth
N20,000, a bed sheet and two DVD players valued N6,000.''
He said during police investigation, the convict admitted committing the crime.
"She sold some of the stolen items to Binta Isa of the same address.'' (NAN)
