47-year-old Man Stabs Wife To Death In Edo Over Missing Passbook, Land Document

Men of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a 47-year-old
farmer, Mr. Godwin Idon, for allegedly killing his 40-year-old wife of
14 years, Maris, over the sudden disappearance of his bank passbook
and a land document in their apartment.
Parading Idon and 40 other suspects before journalists in Benin, Edo
State police commissioner, Foluso Adebanjo, said the sad incident
occurred on July 26, at Uzeba community in Owan West Local Government
Area of the state.
According to him, the suspect had accused his wife of stealing the
land document and the bank particulars, an allegation the woman
allegedly denied to the chagrin of Idon, who allegedly pounced on
hiswife, reached out for a knife and stab her to death.
Among other suspects paraded were three men said to be the kidnappers
of the three female teachers in Ekemwan community, Ovia North East
Local Government area of the State.
The teachers, Mrs. Patience Osadolor, Momodu Aisha and Patience
Oroghene who were abducted at gunpoint in Orhogbua Primary School,
Ekenwan village, during school hours, were released by their abductors
after 14 days in captivity and the payment of N5 million ransom.
The police commissioner also disclosed that about a hundredsuspected
criminals have been arrested in the State within the last two months.
"People ask; what is the police doing? We are doing a lot quietly,
because we would not want to jeopardize the lives of kidnap victims,"
Adebanjo said.
